A thick slab of redwood, on a keyed trestle.
This redwood grew in Orange, California. The table has a thick live-edge redwood top, with a wide band of pale sapwood along one side, on a trestle base of solid redwood. We built three benches the same way.

The trestle
Each leg is a wide redwood panel with pale posts at both edges and a notch cut along the bottom, so the posts stand as feet. A stretcher runs between the legs and passes through each one as a through tenon, locked on the outside by a square wooden key with a dark pin through it. The benches are built the same way.
