How the table is built

The tree

Claro walnut, from a tree that grew in Santa Margarita, California.

The top

A thick live-edge top with a glue seam down the center. Both long sides keep the tree's natural edge, with a slight waist, and both ends are cut square. A few natural checks and splits are filled black, two at one end and one along the seam.

The legs

Two black steel legs, each cut as a tree silhouette. The trunk curves up through two long slots, opens into branches that meet the underside of the top, and spreads into roots that sweep out along the floor.
